Prudential Associates’ Chief Executive Officer, Jared Stern, is a 35-year veteran of investigative, security, risk management, and intelligence acquisition operations. Mr. Stern is also a certified computer forensic examiner and has been called upon to testify as a digital forensics expert in numerous court cases at the local, state, and federal levels. As a certified private investigator and investigative agency license holder, Mr. Stern has also testified in court as a Fact Witness on more than 500 occasions.

After being recruited by founder Robert Miller in 1994 to manage surveillance and investigative services, Mr. Stern rapidly took on greater responsibilities until he was promoted to company president in 2000. As president, Mr. Stern broadened the company’s offerings by leveraging his global experience conducting various risk management and intelligence acquisition operations. In 2014, he became a certified digital forensic examiner, subsequently obtaining several relevant professional certifications. In 2021, Mr. Stern moved to the role of company CEO, bringing on Michael Miglianti – a highly-certified digital forensic expert and career police detective – as company president.

Having provided international consulting, operational planning, and risk management services to countless foreign governments and corporate clients, Mr. Stern has acquired a vast amount of professional experience, including:

  • Trained military and law enforcement personnel in the fundamentals of protecting persons and property during natural disasters, civil disturbances, public demonstrations, labor disputes and/or workplace violence, as well as during high-profile corporate events.
  • Directed aircrew, maritime personnel, and staff training programs pertaining to force protection, counterterrorism, terror-tactics recognition, firearm usage, self-defense, survival, fire safety, executive protection, etc.
  • Provided international consulting, with peripheral roles in intelligence and law enforcement operations, for 25 domestic and overseas projects.
  • Participated in teams involved in reconnaissance planning, surveillance, asset recovery, and corporate intelligence acquisition operations.
  • Acted as an industry consultant on matters concerning risk management, crisis management, contingency planning, intelligence acquisition, investigations, and technical solutions.
  • Served as a media consultant and subject matter contributor on topics such as: clandestine warfare operations; counter-terrorism; specialized military and intelligence operations relating to terrorism; U.S. Military actions in Iraq and Afghanistan; and, specialized munitions deployment and effects.

Michael Miglianti is the President and Chief Information Officer of Prudential Associates. In this role, he manages the company’s service offerings in digital forensics, incident response, and information security. He also serves as a subject-matter expert for civil cases requiring technical analysis.

Mr. Miglianti is a 20-year veteran of the Montgomery County, Maryland Department of Police. During his time as a patrol officer, he was a Field Training Officer (FTO) and trained new officers after they graduated entry-level training. He testified regularly as a fact witness in traffic, misdemeanor, and felony offenses. He also attended hundreds of hours of training in the technical area of vehicle collision reconstruction and was an Intoximeter Operator for several years. In 2012, he followed his interest in high technology and earned his first digital forensic certificate from the International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists (IACIS). He also began to work closely with the department’s Electronic Crimes Unit by supporting their operations and conducting examinations of mobile devices and computers.

In 2014, Mr. Miglianti began working as a station-level detective, which involved investigating serious assaults, burglaries, robberies, and other offenses. He leveraged his knowledge of digital forensics and high technology to identify key evidence and ensure justice for suspects and victims. At the same time, he continued to earn digital forensic certifications and attended additional technical training to further his background and knowledge. He testified as an expert witness in judicial proceedings and has been recognized as an expert witness in Montgomery County, Maryland and the United States District Court for the District of Maryland for cases ranging from stalking, fraud, sexual assault, burglary, robbery, and homicide. Mr. Miglianti worked briefly in the department’s Child Exploitation Unit as an Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) detective investigating Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) possession and distribution cases.

From 2016 until 2021, Mr. Miglianti was a full-time detective with the department’s Electronic Crimes Unit. He continued to conduct examinations of computers and mobile devices, participated in network intrusion cases, and advised on cases requiring advanced technical knowledge. Mr. Miglianti conducted training for the department in the use of reporting software and worked closely with prosecutors preparing cases for litigation. He served as the unit’s Assistant Technical Leader under the department’s Crime Laboratory, which is accredited under ASCLD/LAB (now ANAB).

Since 2014, Mr. Miglianti also served as a forensic examiner for Prudential Associates in a per-diem capacity. He conducted casework in the areas of mobile device and computer forensics, malware analysis, network intrusion, data breaches, and cases where a technical subject matter expert was needed. Mr. Miglianti joined Prudential Associates full-time in March 2021 and became President of the Operational Technology Section.

Mr. Miglianti has amassed hundreds of hours of training and has years of experience in the digital forensics and cyber-security fields. He has attended seminars hosted by the National White Collar Crime Center, the United States Secret Service (NCFI), Magnet Forensics, the SANS Institute, ASCLD/LAB (ANAB), the US Homeland Security Investigations Cyber Crimes Center, and various vendors for the purpose of training to use their software. Mr. Miglianti maintains his proficiency through ongoing training and continuing education.
